Gold Medal, Seattle Wine Awards 2020
58% Viognier, 42% Roussanne
Reed’s Lane Estate Vineyard, Col. Gorge AVA
Neutral Barrel Fermented
This sumptuous white wine leads with aromas of fresh pineapple and Fuji apples, honeydew melon, gardenias, and honey. A seemingly sweet aroma could deceive you at first that this is a heavy white; however, your palate will be filled with fresh Pomelo citrus flavors followed up with a clean through-line of mellow barrel tones. This wine ages well due to the component of Roussanne grapes and barrel fermentation. A lovely wine for a crisp pear and blue cheese salad. 122 cases
Rand Sealey's Review of Washington wines, July 2020:
"From the Reed’s Lane Estate Vineyard, this is an impressive combination of 58% Viognier and 42% Roussanne. It shows a brilliant lemon-gold color and lovely aromas of Asian pear-apple, white peach, honeydew melon, pineapple, citrus, pear tree blossoms, honeysuckle, jasmine and white incense. The flavors are simultaneously opulent and restrained, with vivid white and yellow fruits dancing on the palate, accompanied by notes of grape and pear skins, peach stones and minerals. The vibrancy continues on the back with sensations of pêche and poire liqueurs, melon rind, and touches of nougat and crème fraiche, followed by a lingering finish that is lifted by precise fruit acids. 19+/20 points.
