Jewett Creek Vineyard, Columbia Gorge AVA
100% Pinot Gris
Extended skin contact during primary fermentation begins the process of turning a white grape like Pinot Gris, into and 'Orange' wine. Ramato in Italian means "copper" and is used to refer to Orange wines made with Pinot Gris. This is considered a non-interventionist style of white winemaking, using prolonged barrel fermentation to flavor the wine and give it depth.
At a recent tasting with our assistant winemaker, Teddi Fuller, she noted caramel barrel tones, bright acidity, cedar, yuzu citrus. A stellar example of this style of wine +2 years in neutral oak barrels.
